PPGQ professor is selected to the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (ABC)

Prof. Dr. Wendell Karlos Tomazelli Coltro, from the UFG Graduate Program in Chemistry, received an affiliate membership certificate from ABC.

Professor Wendell Karlos Tomazelli Coltro, director of the UFG Chemistry Institute and permanent PPGQ professor, was selected to the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (ABC). Each year ABC selects up to 30 outstanding young scientists up to 40-years-old to join its membership for five years. Up to five researchers are chosen by region: North, Northeast, Minas & Central-West, South, Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

On August 12th, from 10 am to 4:20 pm, at the UFMG School of Engineering, ABC promoted the Symposium and Diplomation of the Minas Gerais & Central-West Regional Affiliate Members, from 2019 to 2023. The event, free and open to the public, must have prior registration and granted certificate to those present.

On the occasion, seven young scientists have presented their research: Angélica Thomaz Vieira (Biological Sciences - UFMG); Carlo José Freire de Oliveira (Biomedical Sciences - UFTM); Daniel Majuste (Engineering Sciences - UFMG); Raquel Cardoso de Melo Minardi (Engineering Sciences - UFMG); and affiliates for the period 2018-2022: Alexander Birbrair (Biomedical Sciences - UFMG); Siomar de Castro Soares (Agrarian Sciences - UFTM); and Wendell Karlos Tomazelli Coltro (Chemical Sciences - UFG. The program also featured a lecture by Academician Alberto H. F. Laender on the Science Tree project.
