Capital of the Goiás State, Goiânia is among the cities with the best quality of life index in the country. Brazilian municipality with the largest green area per inhabitant (94 m²) and holder of the second highest proportional quantity in the world (preceded only by Edmonton, Canada, with a rate of 100 m²), the city stands out for implementing an urban development model allied to environmental responsibility policy.

Living Expenses in Goiânia

The monthly cost of living in Goiânia is around R$ 1,000.00  for one person. The scholarships for master's, doctorate and post-doctorate students from Brazilian reasearch agencies are currently R$ 1,500.00, R$ 2,200.00 and R$ 4,100.00, respectively.

The foreign student at UFG may live, among other options, with a family, in a hotel or apartment. The most common form of housing is the traditional "republica", which is a house or an apartment rented by one student who then sublets rooms to other students, so that a total of 4 to 6 people share the living expenses.

Health care at the Federal University of Goiás (UFG)

In addition to numerous public health clinics and hospitals, with free access to the population, UFG also has a health center located in the vicinity of the UFG Faculty of Physical Education (FEF/UFG), on Campus Samambaia. The post is open from 7 am to 7 pm, Monday to Friday, with a team formed by professionals from the nursing and medical fields ready to attend emergencies, including traveling to the location of the incident, and other healthy attentions. The physical space consists of three offices, a screening room, and another waiting room for 30 people and a dressing room. There is also dental and psychological assistance, and a Sports Center (gym, swimming, among other activities). All these assistances are free for UFG students.

Meals at Federal University of Goiás (UFG)

UFG maintains 2 university restaurants located at Samambaia and Colemar Campi. The menu is varied and available at prices starting from R$ 2,00. Other alternatives on campus are the cafeterias with a large number of choices in dishes and sandwiches.

Mobility in Goiânia city

The public transport in Goiânia is organized by the Metropolitan Network of Collective Transport (RMTC) and by the Metrobus (responsible for the Eixo-Anhanguera), which in addition to serving the capital, also serves metropolitan cities.

The easy cart facilitates the form of access to public transport, where we recharge for each travel (R$ 4.30) is accepted  in all the buses and can be recharged in stores and ticket windows spread over the city.
